What we did on Memorial Day

Memorial Day is very special to me and to my family. Fortunately, it's not because someone close to me has lost his or her life while serving in the military, but simply because we know what it means. We grew up with a Marine for a father. He instilled many morals and values in us, including patriotism. We know that our freedom is not free. It cost a lot. For many, their lives. So, every year on Memorial Day, regardless of what our plans are for the remainder of the day, we start the day off by going to Mass to pray for all of the men and women who have freely given their lives for us and for our country as well as the families they left behind. They made the ultimate sacrifice. The very least we can do is remember. Each year, my Dad reads a long list of names of people from Jackson County who died during each war.

Here are some pictures that were taken at the parish hall, following Mass, where the KCs served everyone breakfast.

Support Our Troops!

And pray for them, too...

Here are a few easy ways for you to support the men and women serving our country.

1. Click here to send a card (sponsored by Xerox)

2. UPDATE: Click here for more information!
When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get. When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following:

A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
Washington D.C. 20307-5001

So.....do this instead!
