We went to Beaumont on the 4th of July to take Pamela out to eat and out on the town for the last time as a single woman! That was such a fun road trip! Becca & I, who rarely get time away from the kids to actually talk, talked non-stop to and from Beaumont. We left around 3:30 pm on Saturday, got there around 6:30 pm, and left around 6:00 am on Sunday morning. We only got about 1 1/2 hours of sleep (a nap!) and made it back in time for Mass with our families.
The above picture was taken after our mini-lingerie shower at Pamela's house, before going out to eat. The picture below was taken as Pamela was walking out her door, where we left some packages of elegant nighties for her to open. We actually played a trick on her prior to that by giving her some "moo moos" as her lingerie, all the while being totally serious. She wasn't sure whether to be grateful that we weren't too tacky, or to be disappointed that all she got were moo moos. The blow-up doll on the ground was our shared "date" for the night. He acquired the name "Wayne" (i.e. Wayne Newton) back in 2000 during my Bachelorette party. So far, he has attended my party, my cousin-Cathy's, my sister-in-law-Judy's, Becca's, and now Pamela's. He has been quite the center of attention for some time now.
You probably can't tell in all of the pictures, but Pamela was actually wearing a veil that night. It wasn't a tacky one, just a plain and simple one for us to draw attention to her, which she wasn't really sure about. But, it was worth it, because it got us in free to every bar/club, VIP entry and seating, free rounds of shots, etc. By the way, Becca & I were both still breastfeeding, so we didn't drink any alcohol whatsoever, but we knew Pamela wouldn't have fun drinking by herself, so we decided to tell her that we were, in fact, drinking. Since she has never breastfed, she had no idea how we were handling that, so she trusted us. Every drink we ordered was "virgin" so we drank right along with her. When we got home that night, morning, rather, we fessed up. She said, "Y'all were acting drunker than me!" I suppose we were pretty convincing.
Some fun times for Pamela with some really nice guys, actually.
Will, Ashly, Lance, Russell & Pamela
